Historical Note
United Airlines, Inc., commonly referred to as United, is a major United States airline headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. United was established by the joining of several airlines in the late 1920s, the oldest of these being Varney Air Lines, which was founded in 1926. A short time later, in 1931, the airline began operations as United Air Lines. The airline merged with Continental Airlines in 2010, making it one of the world's largest airlines with hundreds of domestic and international destinations.

The Elrey B. Jeppesen Papers documents the career and personal life of aviator and aerial navigation pioneer Elrey B. Jeppesen. This collection is comprised of textual, visual, and audiovisual materials created and collected by EBJ and his wife and business partner, Nadine Audrey (Liscomb) Jeppesen. The documents date from 1843-1996, with the bulk of the material dating from 1940-1979.
Alda Jane Lewis Flight Attendant Collection
Alda Jane Lewis (1923-2012) was born in Ohio and worked as a United Airlines flight attendant. The collection contains photographs, manuscripts, reports, maps, personnel records, and brochures collected during her career.
