Mary Ann Odenthal United Airlines Flight Attendant Collection

 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: 2007-02-15
The Mary Ann Odenthal United Airlines Flight Attendant Collection is comprised of a small amount of textual materials and six color photographs. The material was collected by Odenthal during her service as a Horizon Air flight attendant (1988-1991) and United Airlines (UAL) flight attendant (1991-2006).

The photographs range in size from 4x5 to 8x10 inches and are a mix of candid snapshots and publicity shots. Three feature airliners, including one from Horizon Air. The remaining three prints depict United Airlines personnel, including Odenthal. The photographs do not include any captions or identifying information, such as names, dates, or locations.

Additional materials include Odenthal's 1992 UAL identity badge (with photo); assorted UAL ephemera, such as luggage tags, decals, ticket envelope, and two copies of the booklet, Terms of Flying, which is a small language reference guide for flight terms in English, French, Spanish, Portugese, Italian, Dutch, and German. There are also three (3) booklets pertaining to UAL uniforms, including "Series 30-5 Flight Attendant Uniform Regulations," 2002; "Look to the Future: Corporate Apparel Collection by Brookhurst, Inc.," circa 2001; and "Choice - A Point System Tailored for You: Corporate Apparel Collection by Brookhurst," circa 1995. There is a small amount of correspondence, primarily relating to passing on complimentary comments made about Odenthal's service. Other materials include clippings related to the flight industry, particularly related to flight attendants and safety; a small amount of Horizon Air ephemera, such as safety cards; promotional materials from the 9/11 Memorial; and correspondence and notes related to the Association of Flight Attendants.
