Bowers (1918-2003) was an aeronautical engineer at The Boeing Company for 36 years but was more noted as an aviation historian who wrote several dozen books and close to 900 articles on aircraft. Lt. Col. John R. Buschmann compiled this information about the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, known as "T-Square 54," through personal research and interviews with former crew members. In 2015 these materials, including a short history of the plane written by Lt. Col. Buschmann, were donated to the Museum of Flight in an effort to keep the physical plane and its history housed in one location.

Hamilton "Ham" Coolidge (1895-1918) was one of many young men from wealthy New England families who enlisted during World War I.
