Contents of the Collection
The Boeing Company Posters Collection is an artificial collection comprised of visual materials produced by The Boeing Company, ranging from 1930s-2010s. The collection consists of posters and lithographs produced by Boeing that showcase its aircraft, corporate history, facilities, and other subjects related to the company.
The collection is divided into six series by subject: 75th Anniversary, Air Force and Military, Aircraft, Assorted, Flight Decks, and Helicopters. The series are arranged alphabetically.
The 75th Anniversary series contains 33 commemorative posters from 1991 that highlight Boeing’s... history, successes, and company ethos.
The Aircraft series is the largest series with 45 posters and lithographs that showcase fixed-wing aircraft, including commercial and private aircraft. Rotary-wing aircraft are filed separately under the Helicopters series which is made up of three posters. Details of aircraft can be found in the the Flight Decks series which contains 18 posters and lithographs illustrating flight decks and control panels of numerous Boeing commercial aircraft such as the Boeing 737, 747, and 777.
The Military series is a fairly large series with 27 items, including posters and lithographs showcasing aircraft belonging to the various service branches of the United States Armed Forces such as the U.S. Army Air Corps, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force.
The Assorted series is made up of 25 posters and lithographs that do not fit into any of the others series. Examples include posters promoting Boeing as a company and posters in which no specific aircraft is featured, such as “Background For The Future,” a poster showing the chronology of Boeing products from 1916-1966. This series also includes posters commemorating milestones. Also of interest is a post advertising a theater production titled "Flyin' High" produced by Boeing employees in the 1940s.

Processing Information
Processing work done prior to 2024 by archives staff included adding some materials to acid-free folders. In 2024, the archives staff began a review to bring the collection up to current best practices and to bring various artificial collections and "found-in-collection" items together. Excessive duplicates were removed. Materials were placed in acid-free folders, separated by archival tissue paper as needed, and arranged in order by series.
