Linda Patterson Hughes Airwest Flight Attendant Collection
Contents of the Collection
The Linda Patterson Hughes Airwest Flight Attendant Collection is a small collection of primarily textual materials collected and used by Linda Patterson during her flight attendant career from 1968-1981. The materials are from her service with Air West and Hughes Airwest and include certificates of excellence, a paystub, a May 1976 dedication ceremony program for the Hughes Airwest Boeing Model 727 "Spirit of Gamma," and a newspaper advertisement for Hughes Airwest's move to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Also included is a 4x6-inch color group portrait that depicts 20 former flight attendants, likely the volunteers of the Sky Harbor Auxiliary group based on their similar attire. An undated 16x20-inch color photograph of a Hughes Airwest plane taking off at an airport in San Mateo, California is also present.
Additional material included in the collection is a small amount of training materials, including an Air West and Hughes Airwest air hostess training packet, which includes guidelines on safety for flight attendants when traveling abroad, food and beverage passenger service policies, and hair and weight rules. There is also a "Phoenix Sky Harbor Auxiliary Tour Guide" booklet with related notes.
