Biographical Note
Glenn Luther Martin (1886 – 1955) was an early American aviation pioneer. He designed and built his own aircraft and was an active pilot. Martin founded the Glenn L. Martin Companay in 1912. After several mergers, it is currently known as Lockheed Martin.

Abstract
William E. Boeing, Sr. (1881-1956) was an aviation pioneer and founded The Boeing Company in 1916. The collection holds textual materials, such as correspondence, philately, business-related materials, clippings, and ephemera, as well as photographs and illustrations related to his personal and business life, circa 1783-2008. Major areas of interest include family photographs and extensive personal and business-related correspondence.

Scope and Contents
The Early Aviation Photograph Collection is a collection of unknown origins consisting of 328 black-and-white photographic prints and 299 negatives primarily depicting aircraft from the first half of the 20th century. Some airships, airports, pilots, and other subjects are also depicted in the photographs. The collection is arranged into two series: Airplane photographs and Non-airplane photographs.
