L'Aéronautique Page with Signatures

Collection — Box: Assorted oversize box 13, oversize: folders 1
Identifier: 2024-00-00-29

Content Description

The L'Aéronautique Page with Signatures is a small collection consisting of a single item: the half-title page taken from the 1922 book L'Aéronautique by Charles Dollfus that has been signed by various aviators. Some signatures include notes and a few are dated 1953 but most are simply autographs. It is unclear if the signatures were collected all at once at a single event or if they were gathered over time at different occasions. Not all of the signatures are legible.

The signatures are organized into three columns. Signatures in the first column include: Arlene Davis, Sect. NAA; Blanche Stewart Scott; Beckwith Havens; Blanche Noyes; George Haddaway; Luis de Florez; G.R. McGregor; Bernt Balchen; Frank P. Lahm; Katherine Stinson #148; Charles H. Hubbell; Larry Bell; Nicholas Ludington; P.N.L. Bellinger; Marshall Hurt; W. Millikan, Col.; and Beth E. Brogdon. Signatures in the second column include: Earl N. Findley; Louis Bréguet; A. Verdon-Roe; Harry K. Coffey; R.E. Byrd; Charles Dollfus; and Ashley McKinley. Signatures in the third column include: Mother Tusch per Irene Garber (daughter); Paul Edw. Garber; Glenn L. Martin; Wm. Barclay Harding; Mundy Peale; Paul W. Fisher; Fred Detweiler; Mrs. George Haddaway; Com'der José Cabral, first transport pilot in Portugal, Linho Cintral Portugal; Capt. Holden C. Richardson, 1st Sect'y, NACA; Carl B. Fritsche; F.R. Banks; Al Read; Ruth Law; John H. Towers; and Keith Saunders.

The verso of the page includes the edition number for the book (433 out of 500).
