William S. Luckey was an acclaimed Curtiss Flying Team pilot best known as the winner of The New York Times race around Manhattan Island on Oct. 13, 1913. The William S. Luckey Aviation Collection consists of visual and textual materials related to Luckey's aviation career and to his wife, Laura Luckey.
Lloyd R. Lyckman Military Aviation Collection
Lloyd R. Lyckman (1914-1993) was a Staff Sergeant with Army Air Forces 158th and 72nd Liaison Squadrons during World War II and post-war in Japan. The collection contains photographs, assorted manuscripts, maps and printed ephemera related to his training and military service in Japan.
Richard J. McWhorter Stearman Collection
Richard J. McWhorter (1921-2007) was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho and had a long standing and multi-faceted interest in aviation, including owning and restoring vintage airplanes. The collection includes manuscript materials, ephemera, audio-visual materials, and approximately three hundred (300) photographs documenting the restoration of a Stearman C-3B (#NC7550), on display at The Museum of Flight, as well as a Stearman C-3R (#NC656K).
Murray Stuart and Noel Rae Pilot Collection
Native Washingtonians Murray Stuart (1909-1960), and Noel Rae (b. 1909), married in 1929 and were both pilots. The collection contains clippings, photographs, correspondence, business records, and certificates relating to both their flight careers and personal lives.
