James D. Griffin was an engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. The collection contains five hundred and ninety-six (596) photographs, likely collected and notated by Griffin, featuring primarily Douglas Aircraft Company airplanes manufactured during the 1910s-1970s but also, to a lesser extent, other manufacturer models; including Aero Spacelines, Boeing, Consolidated, and Northrop. Theodore Jay Johnston (1923-2013) was born in Olympia, Washington and was a pilot with the Eighth Air Force (398th Heavy Bomb Group) during World War II. After the war, Johnston spent 37 years at Boeing, workings on a variety of projects, including the Boeing B-47 Stratojet and Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. The collection contains slides and technical documentation related to Johnston's personal history with the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and the Boeing B-47 Stratojet.

Content Description The Kenneth B. Luplow Collection is a small collection consisting of a logbook and notebook dating to Luplow's time working for Boeing in the 1940s. The collection includes: a military pass (Wehrpass) for German Luftwaffe serviceman Otto Zorndt; two booklets on German aircraft engines; a 22-page booklet on Allied aircraft identification for use by German soldiers.

Content Description

The collection consists of 38 (eight 8x10" and 30 4x6") color photographs and five 35mm color film negative strips of the Museum of Flight's B-17F on set in England during the filming of the 1990 film Memphis Belle. The photographs were all taken from the interior of the B-17F, so the exterior of the plane is not visible in the images.
