Content Description

The Stanley Bishop Flying Tigers 747 Photograph Collection is a small collection consisting of three color photographic prints depicting a Beoing 747 in Flying Tiger Line livery, from circa the 1970s. In the photographs the aircraft is parked on the tarmac at an unidentified airport. Some unidentified Boeing employees are depicted in two of the images. "Henry L. Heguy" is painted beneath the cockpit windows.

Abstract

The William Hough “Bill” Cook, Jr. Papers are comprised of documents, photographs, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia pertaining to the life and work of Bill Cook, Jr. A significant portion of this collection is made up of correspondence, both personal and professional. Major topics include the Boeing high speed wind tunnel, the B-29, B-47, and B-17 bombers, the development of the YC-14 short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft, and research on supersonic transport.

Contents of the Collection The Jeffry Culver Boeing Field Negatives is comprised of 22 black-and-white negatives taken at King County International Airport, otherwise known as Boeing Field, by Culver in 1970. Lee Embree Collection

Abstract

Lee R. Embree (1915-2008) was born in Iowa, enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1936, and was assigned to the 38th Reconnaisance Squadron as an aerial photographer during World War II. Embree was at Hickam Field, Hawaii during the 1941 Pearl Harbor bombing and took several photographs. The collection contains photographs, textual materials, audiovisual materials, and a scrapbook that relate to Embree's military service and photography as well as his post-war photography activities.

The David Gallagher Boeing 747 Photograph Collection is a small collection consisting of 39 8x10" black-and-white photographss that were taken in early 1968 of the Boeing 747 assembly process. There are 15 photos taken on January 4; 15 photos taken on February 29; one photo taken on March 3; four photos taken on March 6; one photo taken on March 23; and three taken on April 24, 1968. The Gary Garofano Photograph Collection is a small collection of photographs and prints, circa 1972-1973, depicting Boeing SST mock-up landing gear (including the steering linkage, main strut, side strut, and uplock mechanism), SST concept art, Boeing 747, and the Minuteman Missile.
