Jack H. Frazelle Collection
Contents of the Collection
The Jack H. Frazelle Collection is comprised of photographs and textual materials collected by and/or given to Jack H. Frazelle during his 20+ year career as Assistant Manager of Boeing Field. Materials range from the 1910s to the 1980s.
The collection includes assorted photographs, both in color and black-and-white, depicting aircraft, both in flight and on the ground; Boeing facilities; and one image of the Graf Zeppelin in a hangar in Lakehurst, New Jersey. Some of the photographs have stamps on the reverse, though most do not include identifying information. A handful of the photographs include front captions which provide basic information about the subject or the photographer. There is also one (1) oversize black-and-white panoramic photo captioned: "Dedication of Boeing Field Administration Building and Depot...April 21, 1930, Seattle, Wash."
Additional materials include a single photograph of the R-34 airship [first airship to cross the Atlantic Ocean], along with assorted clippings about the airship. Additional textual materials are primarily philatelic in nature and include a U. S. mint stamp issued in 1949 celebrating the Wright Brothers' first flight, assorted airmail covers and stamps, and a large binder titled "American Commemorative Collections" that contains stamps and covers issued to honor aviation history.
At the end of the collection is a photocopy of a booklet, Chronology of The Boeing Company 1915 thru [sic] 1985", an 8x10" lithograph of a Boeing 247D done by Nixon[?] Galloway, and a 5x7" engraving, done by Charles A. Brooks, of the Wright Brothers' first flight at Kitty Hawk, 1903.
