World War II Pacific Theater Photographs
Frank Wilbur Wright Military Aviation Collection
Frank Wilbur Wright (1886-1950) of Portland, Oregon spent most of his adult life in the military, with service spanning the Oregon Naval Militia, Oregon National Guard, U.S. Army Air Service, Air Corps, and Air Force, and both World Wars. The collection contains commissions, photographs, identification cards, and other materials relating to Wright's long military career.
Greg Wright Pan American World Airways Collection
This small collection is comprised of a Pan American World Airways flight schedule, effective November 1, 1946. Titled "Air Ways for Two-Way Trade," the timetable features international routes all over the world. It includes more detail on routes between North and South America as it is "probably the best opportunity for reciprocal foreign trade." A Pan American Airways route map is included at the center of the booklet.
Orville Wright Letter
4-page typed letter signed on Wright Company letterhead, dated April 7, 1915, to Frederick Eppelsheimer of the New York Herald, discussing the possibility of using a pendulum to stabilize aircraft, mentioning the death of his brother Wilbur, and referencing fellow aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss. Accompanied by a small matte-finish portrait of Eppelsheimer, dated 1918.
