Series III. Air Shows and Events

Scope and Contents

The Air Shows and Events series contains posters and lithographs that advertise or commemorate special events such as air shows, exhibitions, races, and momentous flights. This series includes both Pacific Northwest local events, and global events. Examples of items in this series include posters from the Emerald City Flight Festival, the Japanese Paper Airplane Championship, and the Skagit Tulip Fly-in.

 Series — Multiple Containers
Scope and Contents The Assorted series contains materials that fall outside the other themes of the collection. Some examples of items in this series include posters with photographic images from within a cockpit of a plane, humorous comics, aircraft timelines, and commemorative posters. These posters and lithographs may contain images similar to those in the aircraft series, but provide more textual information or visual elements making them unique. Scope and Contents The Aircraft series contains posters and lithographs depicting a variety of airplanes. The focus of these materials are the planes, with very little text or other visual elements. Common items in this collection feature a photograph of a specific model in flight with a label identifying the plane below. Notable manufacturers present in this series include Beechcraft, Cessna, Convair, Curtiss, Douglas, Grumman, and Lockheed. This series does not include posters of planes from...

 Series — Multiple Containers
Scope and Contents

This series contains posters depicting aviation-related topics pertaining to all branches of the United States Military. This includes the planes, missiles, bases, Naval vessels, airboarne warning and control systems (AWACS), The Blue Angels, and The Thunderbirds.

Depictions of planes that are from manufacturers, like Lockheed, that are not explicitly military can be found in the Aircraft series.
