The Maud T. Bartles Jim Lovell Scrapbook is a collection consisting of a single item: an album documenting a visit by astronaut Jim Lovell to Poughkeepsie, New York in 1973 for a Veteran's Day event. The scrapbook includes clippings, ephemera, photographs and philatelic items collected by Maud T. Bartles, a resident of the area who attended the event during Lovell's visit.

The album is a "magnetic" style photograph album with a green cover with "Capt. J. Lovell" written on the cover and including 40 pages of materials. Among the items in the album, there are eight clippings; twelve color snapshot-style photographs of Lovell and his wife at the events and with reporters; two event programs; one invitation to a reception; a ticket to the memorial dedication; a thank-you letter from Lovell to Bartle's husband, a county exectutive; correspondence regarding related events; and other assorted ephemera. There are also several pieces of philatic material including eight space-themed lenticular stamps from Bhutan; five space-themed lenticular stamps from Yemen; space-themed stamps from Equatorial Guinea; three stamps from Dubai depicting the first moon landing; three stamps from Yemen celebrating Apollo 11 astronauts; a stamp from Ras Al Khaimah illustrating Apollo 11; a cover with seven Mercury and Apollo project stamps, signed by Lovell; a first day cover with an Apollo 8 stamp, cancelled May 5, 1969, also signed by Lovell; and a first day of issue cover with a moon stamp and cachet of Apollo 8 Astronauts cancelled February 22, 2016.

Biographical Note: Maud T. Bartles

Maud T. Bartles was born May 17, 1915 in Clinton Corners, New York to Gustav J. and Maud Talleur. She married William Henry Bartles on October 16, 1937. She worked as a telephone operator in Poughkeepsie, New York per the 1940 census and by 1950, per the census, she was a homemaker. She died in Staatsberg, New York August 22, 2006 and is buried in Upton Lake Cemetery. Her grandson Matt Hayes would later become President of the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington.

The album was left intact. Some of the items were loose and not affixed to album pages; these were separated into a folder for preservation purposes.
