 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: 2011-00-00-15
The Associated Women Pilots of Boeing Field Photographs and Clipping is a small collection of visual and textual materials documenting the the Associated Women Pilots of Boeing Field (AWPBF), circa late 1930s-1940s.

The collection includes thirteen black-and-white photographic prints of six discrete images. One image is an informal portrait of a woman pilot in her coveralls, helmet and goggles. The name on her coveralls reads "Penney." One image depicts a department store display window featuring the AWPBF. Nine prints are of two images of ten of the women pilots lined up with an eleventh woman facing them reading a document or perhaps conveying an award. In these images the women are in their coveralls and some have their helmets and goggles on their heads. One image is a formal group portrait of thirteen of the women, all wearing their flight gear. The final image depicts three women with an unidentified male pilot standing next to the cockpit of a plane. Gladys Crooks, Mildred Merrill, Mary Riddle, and Lucille Stone are among the women depicted. The other women are as of yet unidentified.

One clipping in the collection is the front page of the Seattle Sunday Times dated March 14, 1937 which consists of a full-page feature of the AWPBF with several images. The article which starts on this page concludes on another page but is not invluded with this clipping.
