Content Description

The Robert E. Hage Photograph Collection consists primarily of visual materials related to Hage's career as an aeronautical engineer and executive at the Boeing Company and McDonnell Aircraft Company in the mid-to-late twentieth century.

Hage's time at Boeing is documented with four official black-and-white 8x10-inch photographs of Hage with colleagues. Three show the men in thier offices at King County Airport at Boeing Field and one shows them in the cockpit of a 707.

The bulk of the collection documents Hage's time at McDonnell. One 8x10-inch color photograph shows President Kennedy's visit to McDonnell plant during the Gemini project in 1962, and five black-and-white images show Hage being interviewed for a Japanese television program during the same time period. Six small photograph albums, each with about 14-20 7.5x9.5-inch color photographs, as well as a few loose black-and-white prints, depict various events that Hage attended including a DC-10 delivery to Aeromexico in 1974; a Scandinavian Airlines 30th anniversary party in 1976; a DC-10 delivery to VIASA in 1978; a DC-10 devlivery to Yugoslav Airlines in 1978; a DC-10 delivery to Lufthansa; a DC-10 delivery to Pakistan International Airlines; and a NATO visit to McDonnell. A few other photos also depict Hage during his work at McDonnell and other unidentified events. Some images include Sandy McDonnell.

A few assorted oversize prints are present including an image of a University of Washington Engineers' Banquet from 1937; a Boeing B-17 in flight; and a photographic reproduction of a painting depicting an F-4 Phantom against da Vinci's Vitruvian Man and other moments in the history of flight.

There is also one clipping about his work at McDonnell.
