Contents of the Collection

The collection is comprised of fourteen (14) black-and-white photographs depicting the construction of Boeing aircraft and the inside of Boeing Plant 1, circa 1914-1919. The photographer is unknown. Five of the images are 8x10" and include brief handwritten captions on reverse that identify the Boeing Airplane factory. The images depict the construction of an aircraft, possibly a flying boat or seaplane. The remaining nine images 3.5x6" and are photographic reproductions and primarily depict a biplane with "Washburn's Gold Medal" on its fuselage. Other images depict a building along the water and two shots of unidentified pilots next to partially obscured aircraft.
