Susan "Kelly" Riley United Airlines Flight Attendant Collection

 Collection — Folder: 1
Identifier: 2008-03-06

Contents of the Collection

The Susan "Kelly" A. Riley United Airlines Flight Attendant Collection is comprised of textual materials and photographs related to Riley's career as a stewardess during the 1960s.

There are two (2) United Airlines (UAL) Mainliner Stewardess diplomas (1961, 1963) for Riley; including the cases they were housed in. With each diploma is also a black-and-white group portrait of newly graduated UAL stewardesses. Both portraits are 8x10" and neither include identifying information, such as names or locations.

Additional materials include Riley's last flight schedule written on a scrap of paper; a UAL stewardess courtesy card; and eleven (11) photographs, 1961-1963. The bulk of the images are black-and-white, with one in color, and vary from 2x3" to 3x3". The photographs include two portraits of Riley and one of another stewardess, identified as Mary Lou Barnhart. Additional imags depict a UAL plane on the tarmac and the rest are casual snapshots taken during the stewardess training. Most include captions on the reverse, which provides contextual information such as names, dates, and location.
