Judy Evans Sowell United Airlines Flight Attendant Collection
Contents of the Collection
The Judy Evans Sowell United Airlines Flight Attendant Collection is comprised of textual materials collected by Sowell during her 1965-1993 career with United Airlines (UAL) as a flight attendant.
The collection includes assorted UAL materials, including airline maps, decals, menus, employee documentation, such as pay stubs and recognition letters; instructional materials for stewardesses (1965); and a June 23, 1990 letter from UAL celebrating Sowell's 25th anniversary with the company. There is also a selection of menus and brochures from other airlines, including Hawaiian Airlines, Aloha Airlines, Trans World Airlines, and Scandinavian Airlines.
At the end of the collection is a small amount of materials related to the British Airways Concorde. The materials were all housed within a plastic gift folder which features the Concorde name on it. The materials have been removed from the folder but all items remain together. Included in the folder were a blank flight certificate, blank stationary, an in-flighth entertainment guide, dinner menu, aircraft information booklet, and an October 1989 British Airways Highlife magazine.
