Biographical Note: Raymond Jansen

Raymond Jansen was born on August 17, 1924 in Garden City, New York. In 1943, Jansen enlisted in U.S. Army Air Force. He recieved his Wings in 1944 and was stationed at Eagle Pass, Texas before deploying to France with the 76th Troop Carrier Squadron, where he did combat missions as a glider pilot. After the war ended, jansen resumed his studies at Penn State University, graduating with a degree in Business in 1949. He went on to work for Gates Rubber Co., Beech Aircraft, and eventually the U.S. Postal Service.

In 1970 he married Barbara Sommer. They had two sons, Eric and Christopher. Jansen died in January 2013 and is buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
