Historical Note

The United States Army 162nd Aero Squadron was activated on December 17, 1917. It was trained as a pursuit squadron in England, from December 1917 through March 5, 1918 but never entered combat. The unit was demobilized in February 1919.

The Joseph A. Bossi served as a sergeant in the 162nd Aero Squadron during World War I. The collection contains an event program and postcard relating to Bossi's service in Europe.
