Overview

George Hage was NASA's Deputy Director for the Apollo Program. The 17 total Apollo Programs were designed to send astronauts to photograph, map, and eventually walk on, the moon. The collection contains notes about the production of the lunar orbiters and also photographs and news coverage of the successful Apollo missions.

Abstract

Donald Viele was a Systems Engingeer with Boeing who worked with NASA on the Lunar Orbiter Program (1964-1967). This collection contains documents and photographs collected and authored by Viele during his time on the Lunar Orbiter team.

There is also some documentation relating to Viele's work with the Minuteman Missile program.

Willard P. Williams Lunar Orbiter Photograph Collection

Willard "Bill" P. Williams had a 43-year career at Boeing and worked on numerous projects, including the Lunar Orbiters. The Willard P. Williams Lunar Orbiter Photograph Collection consists of three panels of black-and-white positive transparent film strips and two photographic prints documenting the various features of the moon captured on the first Lunar Orbiter mission.
