Abstract

Harold A. McGinnis (1893-1986) served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Aviation Section as a pilot during World War I and remained in the military until his retirement in 1948. The collection contains pilot log books relating to World War I and photographs relating to World War I and pre-World War II era military aircraft.

Contents of the Collection The World War I era Photographs is a small collection of twenty-four black-and-white vintage prints of unknown origin that depict aircraft and military personnel of World War I, circa 1914-1919. Scenes include military aircraft and personnel, primarily German forces. A few aircraft are shown in flight but most prints show aircraft that have been shot down or crashed.
