Abstract

James D. Griffin was an engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. The collection contains five hundred and ninety-six (596) photographs, likely collected and notated by Griffin, featuring primarily Douglas Aircraft Company airplanes manufactured during the 1910s-1970s but also, to a lesser extent, other manufacturer models; including Aero Spacelines, Boeing, Consolidated, and Northrop. There is also a small amount of clippings, newsletters, and articles.

The Elrey B. Jeppesen Papers documents the career and personal life of aviator and aerial navigation pioneer Elrey B. Jeppesen. This collection is comprised of textual, visual, and audiovisual materials created and collected by EBJ and his wife and business partner, Nadine Audrey (Liscomb) Jeppesen. The documents date from 1843-1996, with the bulk of the material dating from 1940-1979.

MacLeran Pilot Log Books is a small collection consisting of six logbooks maintained by MacLeran and documenting his career as a flight instructor and commercial pilot from 1937-1963. Four of the logbooks are "pilot's flight logs" and document MacLeran's flights primarily to and from Seattle and Everett, Washington from 1937-1940. Kenneth E. Schultz was a Douglas DC-6B aircraft flight engineer for Western Airlines from the 1950s to 1960s. This small collection is comprised of materials related to the Western Airlines Chapter of Flight Engineers’ International Association and Shultz’s labor disputes with Western Airlines while he was employed with the company as a flight engineer.

The Charles Zweigart Aviation Postcard Collection is comprised of approximately 5,000 postcards collected by Zweigart from 1941 to the early 2000s. Most of the postcards are related to commercial aviation aircraft, but some feature airports. A small amount of postcards have been used but the bulk of them are pristine and have never been posted and have no personalization.
