Content Description

The Orville M. MacLeran Logbooks is a small collection consisting of six logbooks maintained by MacLeran and documenting his career as a flight instructor and commercial pilot from 1937-1963.

Four of the logbooks are "pilot's flight logs" and document MacLeran's flights primarily to and from Seattle and Everett, Washington from 1937-1940. The books indicated that MacLeran held commercial and transport licenses with flight instructor ratings. A variety of aircraft are documented in these books. Two of the logbooks are "Airline Logs" and document MacLaren's flights for American Airlines based out of Chicago, Illinois from 1944-1963. These books have some documents tipped in, including instrument check reports, flight reports, statements, and similar type reports. The aircraft recorded in these two books are primarily DC-3s and DC-6s. Names of co-pilots, flight engineers, and stewardesses (flight attendants) are also listed.
