Content Description
The Shirleigh Gleason Boeing Blueprint and Technical Drawings Collection is a small collection of materials created by Gleason during the course of her work as a drafter for the Boeing Company in the early 1950s.
The collection consists of about 40 sheets of technical drawings, in a variety of formats including pencil on tissue, ink on vellum,and blueprint, along with some related documents. About 20 sheets are labeled as for Model XB-480. These sheets depict and describe such things as door installation, bracket assembly, bracket installation, pulley bracket assembly, pulley bracket aileron control, and bracket installation - emergency pressure control. These were drawn in 1951-1952. Two sheets are for the Model B-50, titled "Support Installation - Radio Antenna" from 1952. About 12 sheets plus a few documents are evidently practice drawings from her training period. A few sheets are unidentified.
