The Ron and Ed Erickson Friendship One Collection is a small collection of materials collected by Ron Erickson and his father Ed who were passengers on the Friendship One around-the-world flight in January 1988.

The collection primarily consists of textual materials that were given to passengers on the record-setting flight. Included are: a Friendship One information packet in folder; a first flight cover; a Friendship Foundation invitation; Friendship One stickers; a Friendship One notepad; Friendship One flight seating arrangements documents and cabin layout diagram; a Friendship One Pre-Flight Schedule document; a memo regarding security badges; an envelope addressed to Ron Erickson; and a postcard for CKS International Airport in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition, there is a Friendship One 10th Anniversary packet in a folder, presumably from 1998. The press kit and anniversary packet contain some black-and-white photographic prints.

Historical Note: Friendship One

Friendship One was a successful attempt at beating the round-the-world air speed record. The flight was conducted from January 29 to January 30, 1988, and was operated by a Boeing 747SP owned by United Airlines and captained by Clay Lacy. The flight departed from Seattle, Washington, made refueling stops in Athens, Greece and Taipei, Taiwan, and returned to Seattle in 36 hours, 54 minutes, and 15 seconds. Tickets for the flight raised money for the Friendship Foundation, which distributed its funds to children's charities.
