Barbara Elizabeth (Walter) King Pan Am Flight Attendant Collection
Contents of the Collection
The Barbara Elizabeth (Walter) King Pan Am Flight Attendant Collection is a small collection that contains textual materials used by Barbara Elizabeth (Walter) King during her 1958-1960 service as a flight attendant for Pan Am. The bulk of the documents are crew schedules and "series pattern" sheets, which include vacation requests. Additional materials touch upon training documents issued by Pan Am, including "Polar Emergency Equipment," "Polar Survival Briefing," and class schedule, among others. A small amount of policy and procedure documents are included, such as how to use the public address system, emergency landing procedures, and uniform guidelines. There is also a 1959 flight service personnel list. A single 8x10 inch black-and-white publicity photograph is also present. It features a flight attendant, likely King, in her uniform standing in front of the tail end of an aicraft with the Pan Am livery visible. The verso includes a Pan Am Public Relations division stamp for the Latin American division, but no contextual information is present, such as date or name.
