Content Description
The Doris M. (Jensen) Hanson Flight Attendant Collection is a small collection consisting of visual and textual materials related to Hanson's career as a flight attendant. She worked in Communications for Pan Am in 1954 and then as a flight attendant for Western Airlines from 1956-1959, but other airlines are represented in the collection as well.
Materials related Hanson's work with Western Airlines include: "The Californian Champagne Flights" menu used as postcard, 1957; a 1959 ticket; a business card/badge for Doris M. Jensen; and a Western Airlines poster for Alaska. Materials documenting her work with Pan Am include two black-and-white 8x10" photographs of Hanson and her twin sister Dolores working in Communications, 1954. Other materials include a Hughes Airwest ticket, 1974; a business card for Edward J. Franzen, flight engineer, Pacific Southwest Airlines; a copy of Pictorial California magazine, 1958; and a Pacific Southwest Airlines poster for the Pacific Northwest.

Biographical Note: Doris M. (Jensen) Hanson
Doris M. (Jensen) Hanson was a flight attendant in the mid-twentieth century.
Doris Mae (Jensen) Hanson was born on June 7, 1935 in Polson, Montana to Walter Algud and Lilly Margaret Jensen. She had a twin sister, Delores, and four other siblings.
She and her twin sister worked in communications for Pan American World Airways starting around 1954 and then as flight attendants for Western Airlines from 1956-1959. Doris married Harlis Duane Hanson (born 1930) in Polson, Montana on October 10, 1959. She was a resident of California at that point. She likely ended her career when she married.
As of 2021 she was living in Edmonds, Washington.
