Fletcher Aviation aircraft parts and manufacturing photographs

 Collection — Folder: 1
Identifier: 2019-07-22

Contents of the Collection

The Fletcher Aviation aircraft parts and manufacturing photographs contains 40 black-and-white photographs, 8 photomechanical prints, and 3 transparencies relating to the design, testing, and manufacture of aircraft parts.

All of the photographs are 8.5x11" and none include captions on the reverse. Twelve images include the Fletcher Aviation logo on the front right corner. One image depicts an aerial view of the Fletcher Aviation facility and surrounding areas and includes handwritten directional notations, in pen, on the front. The rest of the photographs depict aircraft parts, including fuel tanks and a electrical tester, from 1960-1966. Some photographs feature unidentified individuals either working on aircraft parts or displaying aircraft parts. Most of the photos include a sign placed in the scene to identify the parts and note the date.

The 8x10" photomechanical prints seem to relate to testing of parts as many of the images feature a sign reading "slosh vibrate pitch cond. 110 gal. heli tank sfc 20 April 66." Each item is noted as being prepared by G. Ford, Sargent-Fletcher Company. Additionally, two of the three transparencies are also noted as being prepared by G. Ford, Fletcher Aviation Corp. It is likely the third transparency was as well. One depicts a fuel tank, one gives specifications of the tank, and the third depicts aircraft, likely a Republic F-105 Thunderchief.
