Contents of the Collection

The Jim Goodall Collection of Aircraft Drawings, Photographs, and Slides is comprised of approximately 1,000 photographs, 52 slides, and assorted aircraft technical drawings. The collection also includes textual materials, primarily in the form of photocopied documents, related to the "Have Doughnut," "Have Drill," and "Have Ferry" programs.

The photographs and slides were both taken and collected by Goodall and feature the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, including detail shots; Edwards Air Force Base Open House; insignias on aircraft; military personnel; armaments; and assorted aircraft, both in flight and on the ground. The photographs are in both color and black-and-white and vary in size from 4x5" to 8x10". Many have stamps or captions on reverse including identifying information as to who took or donated the photograph, the date, and locations.

The tehcnical drawings focus on various aircraft, including the Lockheed SR-71, the Lockheed YF-12A, and the Convair B-58 Super Hustler." Sizes range, but most are quite large.

The textual materials are primarily in the form of photocopied documents and relate to the "Have Doughnut,"Have Drill," and "Have Ferry" programs, which were Defense Intelligence Agency program codenames for evaluation of a MiG 21 and MiG 17. There is also a photocopy of a paper titled "Avionics Flight Test Program."

This collection has not been fully processed. Photographs and slides have been kept in original order, as received from the donor.
