Scope and Contents

The folder contains:

  • A signed assignment of title (1 page) to certificate No. 15 for three shares of common stock of Simplex Automobile Company from Henry A. Wise, as trustee in bankruptcy of Boessneck, Broesel, & Company, to Henry Lockhart Jr. dated May 22,1916. Attached is a signed copy of an order (1 page) issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on April 20, 1916, authorizing the assignment.
  • A signed notarized carbon copy of the certificate of incorporation of the Empire Foundry Company, New Brunswick, N.J. dated March 21, 1907 (6 pages plus back cover).
  • A signed Bill of Sale (2 pages plus back cover) Dated January 17,1913, from Charles W. Grover to the Empire Foundary Company of “all the right, title, and interest of the Eastern Clock and Speciality Company” in patterns for $150.
  • Original signed correspondence (11 pages and 2 envelopes) relating to a special meeting of stockholders of the Empire Foundry Company to be held on March 10, 1917. The correspondence includes letters from The Corporation Trust Company to Gordon Wilson, Secretary of the Simplex Automobile Company, informing him of the meeting, requesting him to bring an executed proxy and affidavit (as Secretary of the Empire Foundry Company), and directing him to transfer one share of stock to Glenn L. Martin and one share to C.B. Hibbard.
  • A typed copy of the “Empire Foundry Company Report and Balance Sheet, August 31, 1914 (8 pages).
