Scope and Contents
- February 21, 1917: Four carbon copies of a typed “concise resume” written by J.P. Tarbox of patents “which we were either infringing or in danger of infringing by constructions we have put into use.” The document is addressed to Henry Kleckler and is divided into sections: Stick Control, Bridge Control, Ailerons, Sectional Wings, Empennage Arrangement, Running Gear, Turnbuckles. The resume concludes with a “Suggested method of treatment of these matters” that recommends “avoidance of the patents” with “construction capable of immediate commercial exploitation.” Attached to one of the copies are blueprints of the same drawings included in the report of May 16, 1916 described above. All of the copies (8 pages) are marked in pencil “2565.”
- March 6, 1917: A carbon copy of a “Brief Outline of Record System of Patent Department.” The report (7 pages) was prepared by George B. Arnold and includes details about docket memorandums of histories of inventions, the filing systems with indexes, docketing system, preparation and processing of applications, and procedures for applications for foreign patents. The document is marked in pencil “2565.”
- undated: Two carbon copies (2 pages each) of a list of “Important Patents” containing the name of inventor, patent number, and brief description of the patent.
- undated: list of "Important Curtiss Patents" (1 page) containing the name of the inventory, patent number, and brief description of the patent.
