Scope and Contents

  • June 29, 1916: A typed list (3 pages) of United States Patents. The list includes the Patent number, name of inventor, title, date [of approval?], and a description of the importance of the patent.
  • November 21, 1916: Five pages of notes handwritten in pencil on yellow paper. The notes contain information about Controls (Bridge and Stick) and include sketches as well as patent numbers, names of inventors, and uses.
  • November 22, 1916: One typed and one handwritten list of patents “For Present Consideration.” The list contains name of inventor and patent number organized in eight sections. Attached to the list are 6 pages of handwritten notes that include sketches.
  • November 23, 1916: Two copies of a typed list (2 pages each) of patents “cited in Answer in Wright-vs-Curtiss Litigation.” The list contains the patent number, name of inventor, and date approved for United States, British, German, and French patents and a list of five “prior publications.”
  • November 24, 1916: A typed “Hydro Bottom Report” (3 pages), a typed “Supplement to Mr. Valk’s Report on Hydro Bottom” (4 pages), and a handwritten version of the Supplement (2 pages). Attached to the report is a large pencil drawing (42x18 in.) of “Types of Bottoms Used on Curtiss Boats and Pontoons.” Attached are two pages of handwritten notes on Hull and Bottom construction with a small pencil drawing (8x9 in.) of the bottom of the N9 and F models.
  • Some of the documents are marked in pencil “2565.”

This collection is open for research. The bound volumes and some documents may not be photocopied due to condition. Negatives may not be handled; copies and digital versions are available for access. Some oversize items are in need of conservation treatment so access may be limited.
