Envelope marked “Home Building Company, 1116 Shares Stock Cancelled Notes, Deed Transfer from Curtiss to Home Bldg. Co., and maps of property” containing a carbon copy of a deed (4 pages) dated August 27, 1917 conveying a parcel of land in Hammondsport from the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Corporation to the Home Building Company of Hammondsport. The original document was signed by W.A. Morgan as Vice President of the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Corporation and notarized in Erie County on August 29, 1917. Attached to the document is a certificate signed by the Clerk of the Erie County Court on September 6, 1917 and bearing the county’s paper seal attesting to the authenticity of the notary’s signature. Also attached to the copy is a plat map (ink on white paper, 10x20 in., folded) showing plots sold. The envelope also contains a blue print of a portion of the map. The envelope also contains two promissory notes signed by the President of the Home Building Co. Inc for $1500 (January 11, 1918) and $5700 (November 29, 1918) payable to the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Corporation. The backs of the notes have been annotated to show payments made between 1918 and 1926 and bear U.S. Internal Revenue Service Document stamps. Envelope is marked in orange as “96” but the document is marked "78-8".
