From the Collection:

The Henry L. Reed Photographs collection is comprised of slides, photographs, and negatives taken by Reed during his 1949-1962 military service. The photographs were taken at various Air Force Bases (AFB), including Scott AFB (St. Clair County, Illinois), Barksdale AFB (Bossier Parish, Louisiana), Keesler AFB (Biloxi, Mississippi), Griffiss AFB (Rome, New York), and James Connally AFB (Waco, Texas).

The images include sixty-seven (67) photographs and seventy-five (75) slides of various planes, including the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, Boeing B-29 Superfortress, and North American B-25 Mitchell. There are also nine (9) negatives of the North American B-25 Mitchell images. The aircraft are featured in flight and on the ground. Some photographs show instrument panels, cockpits, damage to the aircraft, unidentified locations, aerial shots, and people, including one with an unidentified soldier sitting on the nose of a plane. Some of the images have numbers stamped on the back. Additionally, there are images taken at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio of the aircraft on display as well as the USAF Thunderbirds demonstration team, in flight and on the ground.
