Biographical Note: Hans Carl Borm
Hans Carl Borm was a B-29 gunner with the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
Hans Carl Borm was born on May 22, 1922 in Bad Salzuflen, Germy to Max J. and Hanna E. (Rahning) Borm. He had four siblings. He and his family immigrated to the United States when he was an infant. He was living in Ohio by 1942 where he registered for the draft.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Forces in the 871st Bombardment Squadron, 497th Bombardment Group. Borm was a left-wing gunner on Boeing B-29s. He had a love for aviation which led him to a career in the aeronautical industry after the war. He also built a Piel Emeraude which he flew cross-country with his youngest son.
Borm married Anne Page Becker on Mercer Island, Washington on May 15, 1976 and they had seven children and thirteen grandchildren. He died on January 18, 2008 in Kirkland, Washington and is buried in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
