Biographical Note: Blanche Kathleen (Stensland) Cole

Blanche Kathleen (Stensland) Cole worked as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines during the mid-20th century.

Blanche K. Stensland was born on August 17, 1926, in Glasgow, Montana to Arthur Oliver Stensland and Blanche C. (Mullen) Stensland. She attended Glasgow High School and then enlisted in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She was admitted into the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and received her nursing degree in 1948. In 1950, Cole became employed with Alaka Airlines as a flight attendant. When she began, she was stationed in Haneda Air Force Base, Tokyo, Japan.

While working as a flight attendant she met Alaska Airlines pilot, Clarke C. Cole. The two married on March 9, 1951 at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. They remained in Anchorage for a period of time and had four children together.

Blanche K. (Stensland) Cole passed away in Everett, Washington on August 16, 2018.
