Biographical Note
Chuck Duffy served as a steward (flight attendant) for Continental Airlines in the late 1970s.
Charles "Chuck" Morris Duffy Jr. was born on October 22, 1949 in Whittier, California. He attended University of California, Santa Barbara. From 1977-1980, Duffy worked as an airline steward for Continental Airlines. His training took place at Los Angeles Airport, however Duffy and five others missed their graduation ceremony due to a violent assault. After he graduated, he was based out of Seattle, Washington. Duffy went on to serve as a flight attendant on the Boeing 727 and Douglas DC-10 on primarily domestic routes, including to Hawaii.
Duffy never intended to serve as a flight attendant for very long; his goal was to attain his fire service credentials and start his career as a firefighter. So, after he departed Continental Airlines he joined the Air Force Reserves in 1979 as Fire Protection Specialist. Duffy served with the Air Force Reserves until 1999. From 1983 to 2008, he was a Deputy Chief for the Kent and Renton, Washington Fire Departments. Duffy was the Washington State Fire Marshal from 2010 until 2018.
As of 2026 Duffy was living in Washington State.
