Biographical Note: Ottavio Ferrari

Ottavio Ferrari worked in the shipping and crating industry for aviation companies in the United States during the first half of the 20th century. He was born April 10, 1895 in Popiglio, Italy. In World War I, he was a Sergeant in the Alpini Corps, the Italian Army's specialist mountain infantry. Ottavio moved to the United States where he became a supervisor in the shipping and crating department at the Boeing Company from 1920 to 1947. In this position he oversaw shipping material to the Fiat Company in Italy for Boeing in 1934. His Inspector's Memo made it into the local Italian newspapers. After working at Boeing, he started a contracting firm, Ferrari and Son, partnering with his son Roy. He remained with the company from 1947 until his retirement in 1959. He died in 1961.
