Biographical Note

Robert P. Wuerfel was a radio engineer, 1920s-1960.

Robert P. "Bob" Wuerfel was born on January 11, 1903 in Detroit, Michigan. In, 1925, he graduated with from the University of Michigan with a degree in electrical engineering. In 1930, Wuerfel joined with William P. Lear and founded Lear-Wuerfel. The company built radios and chassis in the Chicago, Illinois area. However, it was short-lived, as Wuerfel and Lear amicably parted ways in mid-1931.

Wuerfel went on to work with International Radio and recieved many patents over the course of his career, including one for the first camera photo flash. Wuerfel retired in 1960 and passed away on April 8, 1988.
