Biographical Note

Denise Babcock Schmidt was born in Hawthorne, California on December 2, 1950. Schmidt served as a Pan American Airways (PAA) flight attendant from 1973-1985. She trained in Miami, Floria and flew out of various airports, including Seattle, Washington and Los Angeles, California.

After leaving PAA, Schmidt became a teacher in 1987. As of 2008, she was still actively teaching and residing in California.

Contents of the Collection The Denise Babcock Schmidt Pan American Airways Flight Attendant Collection is comprised primarily of textual materials and some photographs documenting Schmidt's time as a Pan Am flight attendant from 1973-1985, with some materials dating in the 2000s. The collection contains two Pan Am Stewardess School diplomas with color photographic 8x10" class portraits and accompanying certificate holder, 1973 and 1977.
