Biographical Note
Claud V. O'Callaghan was the traffic manager of Varney Air Lines and United Air Lines, circa 1926-1934.
Claud Victor O'Callaghan was born on July 27, 1896 to Charles and Della (Sullivan) O'Callaghan in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He had a sister, Lillian. In 1915, he graduated from Bonners Ferry High School. O'Callaghan then moved to Seattle and attended the University of Washington, with a brief break to serve during World War I. After graduation, he remained in Seattle and joined Varney Air Lines in 1926 as traffic manager. When Varney became part of United Air Lines in 1931, O'Callaghan was transferred to the executive offices in Chicago, Illinois. He retired from United Air Lines in 1961.
Claud O'Callaghan married Nellie May Coovert (1901-1963) on November 27, 1929; they had one daughter, Claudia. Sometime after his wife's death, O'Callaghan relocated to San Diego, California. He died of natural causes on September 23, 1992 at the age of 96 years old.
