Contents of the Collection The collection is comprised of fourteen (14) black-and-white photographs depicting the construction of Boeing aircraft and the inside of Boeing Plant 1, circa 1914-1919. The photographer is unknown. Five of the images are 8x10" and include brief handwritten captions on reverse that identify the Boeing Airplane factory. Content Description

The David Gallagher Boeing 747 Photograph Collection is a small collection consisting of 39 8x10" black-and-white photographss that were taken in early 1968 of the Boeing 747 assembly process. There are 15 photos taken on January 4; 15 photos taken on February 29; one photo taken on March 3; four photos taken on March 6; one photo taken on March 23; and three taken on April 24, 1968. The images depict pieces of the fuselage being positioned together.

Abstract

James D. Griffin was an engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. The collection contains five hundred and ninety-six (596) photographs, likely collected and notated by Griffin, featuring primarily Douglas Aircraft Company airplanes manufactured during the 1910s-1970s but also, to a lesser extent, other manufacturer models; including Aero Spacelines, Boeing, Consolidated, and Northrop. There is also a small amount of clippings, newsletters, and articles.

Theodore Jay Johnston Boeing Aircraft Collection

Abstract

Theodore Jay Johnston (1923-2013) was born in Olympia, Washington and was a pilot with the Eighth Air Force (398th Heavy Bomb Group) during World War II. After the war, Johnston spent 37 years at Boeing, workings on a variety of projects, including the Boeing B-47 Stratojet and Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. The collection contains slides and technical documentation related to Johnston's personal history with the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and the Boeing B-47 Stratojet.
