Historical Note

Alaska Coastal Airlines operated from 1939-1968 when it was bought by Alaska Airlines. Based in Juneau, Alaska, the airline formed due to a merger of Alaska Air Transport and Marine Airways. In 1962, the airline bought Ellis Air Lines and then operated as Alaska Coastal-Ellis Air Lines until it was acquired by Alaska Airlines.
