Historical Note
Air Afrique was a Pan-African airline that operated from 1961 to 2002. It was established as a joint initiative of Air France and Union Aéromaritime de Transport to provide regional services in Africa that had previously been operated by those airlines. Owned by several West African countries, Air Afrique served as the transnational carrier for West and Central Africa. The airline remained in operation until 2002, with its headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
