Abstract

The William Hough “Bill” Cook, Jr. Papers are comprised of documents, photographs, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia pertaining to the life and work of Bill Cook, Jr. A significant portion of this collection is made up of correspondence, both personal and professional. Major topics include the Boeing high speed wind tunnel, the B-29, B-47, and B-17 bombers, the development of the YC-14 short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft, and research on supersonic transport.

Hellyer Pan Am Clipper Club Collection is a small collection consisting of materials collected by Hellyer as a child traveling between Tacoma, Washington and Asia in the early 1950s. The materials demonstrate how air travel, especially aboard Pan Am Clippers, captured his imagination as a child. Included are drawings by Hellyer of airplanes, a photograph of his Kindergarten class in Tacoma which had a child's drawing of an airplane on view, and an air-travel themed...

Native Washingtonians Murray Stuart (1909-1960), and Noel Rae (b. 1909), married in 1929 and were both pilots. The collection contains clippings, photographs, correspondence, business records, and certificates relating to both their flight careers and personal lives.
