Scope Note: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB) is an active base near Dayton, Ohio. It started as Wilbur Wright Field, in 1917, commonly called Wright Field. A portion of Wright Field was renamed Patterson Field in 1931. McCook Field was also established here in 1917 and its functions were reassigned to Wright Field when it closed in 1927. Wright Patterson AFB was established in 1948 as a result of a merger between Wright and Patterson Fields.

Content Description This collection consists of notes by Joe P. Doetsch related to his work inspecting B-17B aircraft from about 1939-1940. There are 22 loose pages of notes which appear to have been cut from a notebook, an additional couple sheets of handwritten notes, and three pages of typed aircraft lists.
