Scope Note: Wake Island, also known as Wake Atoll, is a coral atoll having a coastline of 12 miles (19 kilometers) in the North Pacific Ocean; an unorganized, unincorporated territory of the U.S., administered by the Office of Insular Affairs, U.S. Dept. of the Interior; 19°18ʹ N 166°38ʹ E; although it is officially called an island in the singular form, it is actually an atoll comprising three islands surrounding a central lagoon: Wake Islet, Wilkes Islet, Peale Islet

Contents of the Collection

This small collection contains a Pan American Airways flight packet souvenir given to passengers traveling to the South Pacific, circa 1956. Contents of packet include a drink menu, brochures with information for traveling in Manila, Guam, Wake Island, and Hong Kong, as well as postcards of fishermen in Guam and aerial views of Wake Island.
