Overview August G. Blume (1927-1993) was an author and historian focused on the Eastern Theater of World War I. This collection consists of his writing, correspondence but most notably a large number of photographic images of the Eastern Front during World War I that Blume attained during his research. The materials span the early 1900s to 2000.

Contents of the Collection The collection relates to the World War II service of Melvin A. Erickson, a B-17 pilot. It includes a pilot's logbook; military records, such as Erickson's war record, identity card, and discharge; aerial photographs of targets; and a photograph album which holds training and mission photographs.

Abstract Joseph E. Opray (1919-1992) was born in Oregon and served in World War II with the United States Army 635th Tank Battalion. The collection contains primarily World War II era materials including a scrapbook, several issues of the Stars and Stripes newspaper and assorted ephemera, including a poem, "A Hitch in Hell" by Joe Opray.
